Parents from Sanctor Primary in Port Elizabeth's Northern areas closed the school doors on Monday morning.
This, after a memorandum was handed over to The Department of Education last week in an attempt to seek payment from the department for temporary teachers and vacant posts.
Deputy Principal, Greg Mc Cullum, says parents are angry as they think it is unfair that the department is not paying for teachers.
Mc Cullum says the school is paying for five teachers from school funds, which is not manageable.
"The Parents are angry because their children are not being taught at the moment. They feel it is unfair that they should spend money paying educators whilst the department should be paying them. The parents will close the school for as long as it takes for the department to listen. We as teachers have no say in this, because it is their children" he said
Parent Zaakira Allen, says the problem affects many other schools in the Northern areas.
Allen says that just last week, teaching at Astra Primary school also came to a halt due to the fact that teachers were not paid.
