Another night behind bars for Tim Omotoso

The controversial Nigerian pastor, Tim Omotoso, will be spending another night behind bars as his bail application will continue on Thursday.

The leader of the Jesus Dominion International Church, who was back in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, is now facing 22 charges of sexual violence and human trafficking.

Warrant Officer Peter Plaatjies, who is a member of the Hawks in PE,  took the stand to state why the 58 year-old father of three should not be granted bail.

During his cross examination, Plaatjies said a senior Hawks member had been implicated in trying to delay the Hawks during their first attempt at arresting Omotoso.

Plaatjies told the court that the implicated Hawks official, who has not been named but is member of the church, had alerted Omotoso about the investigation and his imminent arrest.

Hawks National Spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda, confirmed that the member was currently being investigated.

Stanely Tokota, one of the many members of the Jesus Dominion International ministry gathered outside court, told Algoa Fm News that he did not believe the things the media were saying about Omotoso and that he would continue to support him as he did not think he had done anything wrong.
