The National Sea Rescue Institute has conducted yet another successful sea rescue operation using its pink rescue buoy programme.
This brings the number of successful rescue operations performed countrywide using the programme to 56.
The latest operation took place in Oyster Bay near Jeffrey's Bay on Monday when two teenagers got into trouble.
Oyster Bay Station Commander, Lodewyk van Rensburg said a group of seven people including an adult, got caught in a rip current.
He said the man identified as Ricardo Kettledas and four children were not in deep water and were able to make it back to shore.
However, two 14-year-olds were swept out to sea.
Kettledas, who is their uncle, used the NSRI's pink rescue buoy at the beach to get one of the teens out of the water while he joined in to haul the second youngster from the surf.
NSRI National spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the teenagers are recovering in hospital.
"The teen who was in a critical condition remains in a serious condition and was transferred to a Port Elizabeth hospital," he said.
Lambinon also commended those who participated in the rescue operation.
