East London police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder, following the discovery of a woman's body and a critically injured man in a room in Parkside.
Police spokesperson, Captain Steven Marais, says neighbours contacted them when they heard gunshots.
Upon arrival, they came across the body of a woman in her 40s and a man, who was lying on a bed with a gunshot wound to the head.
The man is in a critical condition in hospital.
Marais says they recovered a brand new firearm from the scene, and the motive appears to have been a lovers' quarrel.
It is the second such incident in the city in a week.
