A fire in the Khayelitsha informal settlement in Motherwell on Tuesday claimed the lives of four people.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says 13 shacks were destroyed in the blaze during the early hours of the morning.
She says, when the flames were extinguished, the bodies of two adults and two children were found.
The deceased were 32-year-old Luthando Mpi, his 31-year-old wife Licelo and their children, six-year-old Aloyise and one-year-old Ikamvalethu.
Naidu says the cause of the fire is suspected to have been a burning candle.
This is the second fire disaster in Nelson Mandela Bay after a family of six perished in a fire in Missionvale on Sunday.
