Eastern Cape Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has expressed shock and dismay at yet another cold-blooded killing of a defenceless elderly woman at Idutywa on Friday evening.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says preliminary investigations revealed that the 85-year old was asleep alone in her rondavel when she was shot in the upper body.
He says her body was discovered the following morning by relatives who stay in the same yard.
The motive behind the murder has not yet been established.
No arrests have yet been made and the investigation continues.
The incident followed the killing an 83-year-old granny in Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape on 15 March.
Six suspects have been arrested for her murder in the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and the Western Cape.
