The sentencing proceedings of a Gqeberha man who pleaded guilty to theft amounting to more than R1.4 million were postponed in court yet again on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old Morne Pretorius made headlines in August last year when a massive search was launched for him after his wife reported him missing and his car was found abandoned at Maitlands.
He was found unharmed two days later in Jeffreys Bay where he told police that he had personal problems and needed time alone.
A week later, he pleaded guilty to theft, admitting that he stole stock from his former employee, Supply Five Distribution, between January and December 2018.
Pretorius was a manager at the company and sold the stock to finance his own company - Ubuntu Supply.
The court heard that Pretorius' theft had led to local employees being retrenched.
Pretorius was due to be sentenced in November last year but the matter was postponed to December for a report from a psychologist to be handed in at court.
The matter was then postponed to January where another postponement was granted.
Pretorius now has a new legal aid attorney, Anlen Murray, who asked for another postponement on Tuesday so that she could familiarise herself with the case.
