Cyclist can look forward to a cycling route stretching from Cape Town to Plettenberg Bay. The Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde, recently said the goal of this unique route is to
establish the Western Cape as the trail capital of Africa.
Winde said the project also forms part of his goal to attract 100 000 cycling tourists to the Western Cape each year. The complete route is part of a five year
plan. The first 160km phase between Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay is planned to be completed within the next two years.
The route will accommodate for experienced to beginner riders and include challenging mountain trails, scenic forest single tracks as well as jeep track.
Winde said the project aims to expand opportunities for the private sector to invest and create jobs.
