Port Elizabeth police are searching for several suspects who hijacked a cigarette truck in Bethelsdorp Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says a driver from a cigarette company had just completed delivering stock to a shop in the area when he was confronted by three suspects, two of whom were armed.
"They forced him into his own vehicle and drove off, followed by an Isuzu bakkie," she said.
Janse Van Rensburg says they stopped in a field not too far from where the vehicle was hijacked and transferred the cigarrettes to the bakkie before fleeing.
She says the driver of the delivery vehicle was not injured.
Anyone who may have information on the heist should contact their nearest police station.
