Its been another chilly night across the Eastern Cape, with the weather office saying temperatures plunging to between 2.9 and minus 8.8 degrees.
Weather office spokesperson, Garth Sampson, also says that Port Elizabeth recorded its coldest night since 2008 with the mercury dropping to 0.9 degrees, shattering Monday's record of 1.9 degrees by a full degree.
Sampson the frosty conditions were a result of cloudless conditions and maximum outgoing radiation and snow over the high ground caused by a weekend frontal system which caused temperatures to drop.
