Another alleged kidnapping just hours after Biokineticist is found

A 26-year-old biokineticist from Gqeberha who was kidnapped a week ago is safe.

Riana Pretorius was dramatically kidnapped in front of her workplace on Pickering Street in Newton Park last Thursday.

The news of her abduction spread like wildfire on all social media platforms and quick action from the police led to the arrest of one suspect.

Forty-year-old Xolisile Rawutini was arrested in Deal Party just hours after the crime was committed and was charged with the illegal possession of a firearm.

At this point, no other charges have been brought against him and he will be back in court on the 5th of April.

A day after Pretorius was kidnapped, a ransom demand of R2 million was made for her safe return.

It is not yet clear if any money was paid over as police referred the media to the Hawks who only confirmed that Pretorius was safe.

A second suspect who was arrested was reportedly let go when he could not be positively linked to the crime.

More suspects are still at large.

Meanwhile, reports of another alleged kidnapping were shared on social media on Friday morning.

Twenty-four-year-old Hilton Wicks was allegedly kidnapped in the early hours of the morning near his house in Maclear.

Algoa FM News made several inquiries to the police who informed us that the Hawks had taken over the investigation.

When asked for comment, spokesperson for the Hawks, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela said she had not yet been informed about the Wicks matter.
