Nelson Mandela Bay ANC councillor, Andile Lungisa is set to give his bid for freedom one more try as he gears to approach the Constitutional Court.
Lungisa confirmed this to Algoa FM News on Thursday morning that he will be appealing his effective two-year sentence for assault.
He was dealt another blow on Wednesday when the Appeals Court dismissed his application.
In its judgement, the court found no grounds to interfere with the sentence of the trial court.
Lungisa was found guilty of hitting the DA’s Rayno Kayser with a glass jug over his head at the now-infamous 2016 council brawl.
He has since resigned as Mayoral Committee and the ANC has recalled him as NMB councillor.
