ANC :Zuma was not booed in PE people were drunk

President Jacob Zuma says that there is no president in the Democratic Alliance and that the opposition leader, Helen Zille must ask other premiers at her level to have a debate.

Zuma was speaking at the Nelson Mandela Peace Park in Motherwell yesterday when the ANC election campaign got underway in parts of Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage.

In an open letter released on Thursday, Zille challenged Zuma to join her in a nationally televised presidential debate on the state of the country, economy and particularly jobs.

Zuma added that he was comfortable that the ANC would do well in the Eastern Cape.

"This province is one of the ANC's home, there's no doubt about that. We are making a call to those who have left the ANC, that they must come back. The time has come, it is now that we need all hands on deck." says Zuma

Meanwhile the ANC dismissed a tweet from City Press claiming that President Zuma was booed by residents of Jacksonville in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Spokesperson Jackson Mthembu says this is a lie and Zuma was in fact warmly received by a big contingency.

He says there was a handful of noisy people who were drunk who carried hand written placards who were instigated by the DA.

Mthembu accused the City Press of being reckless and demanded they put the record straight.
