The ANC easily won both municipal by-elections in Nelson Mandela Bay on Wednesday.
Results released overnight, showed that the party's candidate in Ward 4 in Walmer Township in Port Elizabeth, Ayanda Tyokwana, was elected as a new councillor after amassing 78 percent of the vote.
The percentage poll was 47.
In Ward 14 in New Brighton, the ANC's Dolly Buti got 67 percent of the vote, followed by the DA candidate's 22 percent.
In this ward, only 34 percent of the registered voters cast their ballots yesterday.
The results will have no effect of the balance of power in the Metro.
