The ANC in the Eastern Cape says the resounding success in Wednesday's by-elections exhibits the rejection of those who call people refugees in the land of their birth.
The ANC was referring to the heavy defeat inflicted on opposition parties, including the Democratic Alliance, in by-elections in Nelson Mandela Bay.
ANC provincial spokesperson, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, took a swipe at DA leader, Helen Zille over her reference to children moving from the Eastern Cape to Western Cape schools as refugees.
He says the first priority for Nelson Mandela Bay will be to adopt the municipal budget that will enable the newly elected ANC councillors to work hard at improving the delivery of services to their communities.
