An Eastern Cape man has been given two life sentences in the Mthatha High Court for the 2009 murder of a 70 year old woman and her 12 year old granddaugther.
Thirty-three-year-old Mqwalaseli Mabhayi was also given a 10 year sentence for housebreaking.
His jailing closes one chapter in a series of gruesome murders of 13 people, mainly women in the R-1 Location at Toleni near Butterworth between 2008 and early 2010.
Police spokesperson, captain Jackson Manatha, says a 45 year old man was also jailed for eight years in 2009 for the murder of his girlfriend the year before.
He says eight murder cases from Toleni Village still remain unresolved.
