ANC secretary-general, Gwede Mantashe, says the newly launched political platform Agang SA could possibly be used to destabilise South Africa.
The national broadcaster reports that Mantashe raised concerns about the "party political platform", which businesswoman Mamphele Ramphele launched on Monday.
Mantashe said the biggest concern of the ruling party is about the funding for the organisation.
He says often funding is not channeled led to strengthen government but in fact it is used to destabilise it.
Meanwhile, political analyst Zakhele Ndlovu, says Ramphele has a tough road ahead of her if she' is hoping to gather enough support to contest the 2014-general election.
He says while Ramphele is popular among the middle-class, she'll have to reach out to working class South Africans, who may not have even heard of her.
"It would have been great if she had mobilised a number of high profile people to support her cause. I do suspect that there are some people who will back her. I suspect her party is tackling the middle class and in South Africa the middle class is not that big" Ndlovu said.
