The ANC in the Eastern Cape has postponed its much-awaited regional conferences in the Amathole and Nelson Mandela Bay Regions.
Provincial secretary, Lubabalo Mabuyane, said the regional conferences, due to be held this weekend, have now been moved to dates in February.
“The reason for the rescheduling of the Nelson Mandela regional conference was due to the delays in membership audit processes done at the branch level,” Mabuyane said.
“Amathole region has not met the requisite 70% threshold of BGMs for the conference, which led to the regional conference being rescheduled to February 2017. The PEC has set up teams per sub regions to attend to all the disputes that have been lodged.”
Mabuyane said “all branch general meetings for these two regional conferences have been suspended because of the December closing and will resume on 5 January 2016.”
“This has been communicated with the leadership structures of the affected regions and all other details and logistics regarding these conferences will be communicated with the branches.”
