East London police are investigating a murder and attempted murder case after a couple was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in East London.
They were both ANC officials.
Lieutenant Colonel Mtati Tana says Mzuvukile and Ncediswa Nkatha were sitting in a car in Buffalo Flats when two unknown suspects approached their vehicle.
Tana says there was another couple standing outside the vehicle and they were initially shot at by the gunmen.
The woman escaped unharmed while her male counterpart is in a critical condition in hospital.
Tana says the suspects then opened fire on the Nkatha's in the vehicle killing the two ANC officials on the spot.
