The ANC Nelson Mandela Bay Region said it had learned with sadness of the passing of the mother of Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle.
In a statement on Monday, ANC regional spokesperson Gift Nqondi, said that “as the African National Congress Nelson Mandela Bay Region, we are in prayers with the family.”
Eighty-nine-year-old Deneo Masualle, died on Friday night following a long illness.
Bhisho government spokesperson, Sonwabo Mbananga, said that she had recently suffered a stroke and had been in and out of hospital.
“While undergoing rehabilitative treatment, following the stroke, uMama Masualle experienced further complications resulting in her latest hospitalization at Frere Hospital where she was receiving treatment,” he said.
“The head of the administrative arm of the provincial government, Director-General Marion Mbina-Mthembu, has on behalf of the entire government of the Eastern Cape expressed sadness and conveyed her condolences to the Masualle family,” Mbananga said.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
