The ANC in the Eastern Cape says it rejects comments made by former Reserve Bank governor, Tito Mboweni that former President Thabo Mbeki should have groomed a successor to taker over from him.
The party's provincial spokesperson, Mlibo Qoboshiyane says Mboweni's comments are foreign to the ANC, because they attempt to defeat its democratic processes, constitutionally allowing all members to elect members to leadership positions.
He says no leader in the ANC has a right to anoint leaders to take over from them, as the party's members decide on who leads where, when and how.
