The ANC in Nelson Mandela Bay has expressed its shock and sadness at the death of three councillors in an accident on Sunday night.
ANC regional spokesperson, Zandisile Qupe, says the ruling party will work closely with the families of the victims to ensure that they have a dignified send-off.
The three ANC councillors were part of a group of councillors from all parties, who were returning from East London after attending a course at Fort Hare University.
Three of the eleven councillors who were injured remain in hospital.
A special council meeting will be held this morning in the wake of the tragedy.
The Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union also paid tribute to the late councillors.
