The ANC says the ongoing ill-discipline shown by the leadership of the ANC Youth League has led to a decision to disband the leadership of the Youth League.
ANC secretary-general, Gwede Mantashe addressed the media today about the decision of the ruling party's national executive committee.
He says an interim team will be put in place to run the ANC Youth League.
"Following the interaction between the ANC national officials and the leaders of the ANC Youth League a report responding to issues raised by the national officials was received and considered," said Mantashe.
"The NEC resolved to dissolve the NEC of the ANC Youth League as a consequence of its continued ill-disciplined behaviour that brought the organisation into disrepute on numerous occasions."
Meanwhile, Mantashe says the ANC has also dissolved the provincial leadership of the ANC in Limpopo province.
He says the Limpopo PEC was dissolved for displaying what he said was "un-ANC behaviour and institutionalised factional conduct."
"[It will] be replaced with an interim structure that will be given no more than nine months to work towards convening a provincial conference."
