Amnesty period for traffic fines will not start on Monday

 The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says the planned amnesty period for traffic fines is still in its infancy stage, and will not start on Monday as reported by a local newspaper on Friday.

Metro spokesperson, Kupido Baron says even though it was discussed at a meeting of the Safety and Security Standing Committee yesterday, the plan must still be approved by the Mayoral Committee and/or Council for a resolution to map the way forward.

He says residents therefore remain responsible for the full outstanding amount of fines and warrants of arrest.
