The Amathole District Municipality says its on the verge of obtaining its first clean audit.

Executive mayor, Nomasikizi Konza, said on Friday that while the majority of municipalities were still struggling with the running of their finances, Amathole District Municipality had been steadily maintaining its unqualified status for the fourth fiscal year running.

Speaking at a media briefing, Konza said the District Municipality had set itself and was abiding by high standards.

She said the ADM had seven local municipalities under its jurisdiction and some were still struggling with sound financial management.

Konza said it was critical that, as the District Municipality improved its financial management, so too should its seven local Municipalities.
