Eight people, aged between 16 and 18, have been admitted to an East London hospital for food poisoning.
The Eastern Cape health department says the eight, from the Emaplangeni Village in Peddie, allegedly drank sour milk on Friday.
Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo says all of them are in a critical condition, while two are being treated in the intensive care unit.
He says they are trying to get samples of the product they consumed.
Kupelo says this is the second incident of food poisoning in the province, after 115 people were treated following consumption of meat from a dead cow.
He says a 64-year-old man died in the Holy Cross hospital.
The department has urged the people of the province to stop feeding from dead animals or expired products.
