Gqeberha police are investigating cases of attempted murder and theft from a motor vehicle after a 20-year-old suspect was shot and wounded by a 40-year-old Algoa Park man, who chased after two men who allegedly stole a tyre from his car on Friday evening.
Colonel Naidu says the complainant woke up shortly before midnight when his dogs started barking outside his house in Birchwood Crescent
She says he noticed that a tyre from his car was stolen and he chased after the suspects.
A scuffle ensued between them and when one suspect produced a knife, the complainant pulled out his firearm and fired a shot in the ground.
One suspect ran away, and two more shots were fired, hitting the other suspect in his neck.
The complainant did not sustain any injuries.
The wounded suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
