Three women are expected to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of theft after clothes and shoes from chain stores were found in their possession.
Police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies said police received a tip-off from a security company about a Ford Figo with possible stolen goods inside, that was traveling from Knysna to George on Thursday.
He said police stopped and searched the vehicle on the N2 and found jeans and school shoes inside two large bags.
The suspects, who are 29, 30, and 40 years old, were unable to produce any receipts or account for their possession of the items.
Police confiscated the goods and seized the vehicle.
The suspects have been in custody since their arrest and are facing charges of theft.
