An alleged serial rapist is expected to appear in the Aliwal North Magistrates Court on Friday.
Twenty-two-year-old Akona Ntombana allegedly raped five women between November and January this year.
Police spokesperson Captain Ursula Roelofse says Ntombana's alleged crimes terrorised the community of Maletswai.
She says his first two victims, aged 13 and 14, were raped in November last year and five days later he raped his third victim, a 15-year-old girl.
Captain Roelofse says all the victims described the suspect wearing the exact same outfit that consisted of a homemade balaclava, black t-shirt and torn All Starr tekkies.
She says by then women in the community were warned not to walk alone but a week later on the 3rd of December Ntombana allegedly raped his fourth victim, a 24-year-old woman.
Captain Roelofse says his last victim was a 12-year-old girl who was raped in an open field on the 17th of January.
She says one of the victims made contact with the Investigating Officer last week when she noticed a suspicious person in the vicinity of where she was raped.
Police were summoned to the scene and arrested Ntombana who was identified by the victim.
The case was postponed for Ntombana to get legal aid and for a possible bail application.
