Alleged serial rapist denied bail in PE court

An Eastern Cape man, accused of human trafficking and rape, has been denied bail in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court.

NPA regional spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani says it is alleged that 32-year-old Khululekani Ngqeza lured his victims by masquerading as a photographer for modelling agencies through Facebook.

She says it is alleged that he raped a 17-year-old girl during March this year in Port Elizabeth.

The case was postponed to 12 November for further investigation.

Ngcakani says it is alleged that he also raped another 17-year-old girl in Komani.

She says he was arrested on 19 May in the Komani area and made his first appearance in the Queenstown Magistrate’s Court two days later where he was released on R2 000 bail.

His next court appearance in this case will be on 29 October.

After the 17-year-old victim from Port Elizabeth positively identified him during a formal identification parade, he was also arrested and charged for the PE incident by members of the Mount Road Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

Ngcakani says it is alleged that he followed a similar modus operandi in both cases.

Police are currently investigating a similar case that emanates from the Western Cape that allegedly occurred during October 2018.
