Police in Port Elizabeth are appealing for public assistance in tracing the next of kin of a man who was murdered by a group of people after he allegedly tried to rob one of them in Central.
The victim, a coloured man believed to be in his late twenties, was captured on CCTV cameras over a month ago in June, where he was seen trying to rob a person in Cape Road, opposite the Horse Memorial.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the person’s four friends who were just behind him, caught the alleged thief and assaulted and stabbed him to death.
She says to date, no arrests have yet been made.
Colonel Naidu says the deceased has several tattoos on his arms and hand and police are hoping that this will help them to identify him.
She appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact their nearest police station.
