Humansdorp police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving following a high-speed chase on the N2 involving an alleged rhino poacher.
Earlier on Wednesday the Mossel Bay Advertiser confirmed that a rhino horn was found in the possession of suspects who were pulled over at a roadblock on the N2 between George and Wilderness.
The horn is from the Botlierskop Private Game reserve outside Little Brak River and was confiscated at the roadblock.
The suspects, however, managed to flee from the police.
Colonel Naidu says at about 7 am they received information about the vehicle approaching the Eastern Cape near the Swartriver Bridge.
She says the vehicle was spotted which resulted in the high-speed chase.
Colonel Naidu says the driver managed to flee on foot and is still at large.
