Port Elizabeth police are appealing to guest-house owners who may have fallen victim to a payment scam to come forward.
This, after a 43-year-old man who was wanted for fraud and forgery in Gauteng dating back to 2013, appeared in court on Friday for allegedly defrauding a Millpark guest-house owner in November.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said Daniele Olivier and his fiancé (31) booked into the guest-house after paying for the first night via an online booking system.
She said the following day he requested to stay another four nights and allegedly produced a fake EFT payment statement.
Naidu said when the money did not clear through the bank, the owner approached him and later laid a charge with the police.
She said Olivier was remanded in custody until next Monday when he is scheduled to make another court appearance.
Naidu said anyone who may have also fallen victim to "Olivier's scams" to contact D/W/O Whittal at SAPS Mount Road on 041 394 6245.
