The Port Elizabeth Magistrates court heard on Friday that the 24-year-old man accused in the murder of PE flying squad member, Constable Dwane Kemp, had allegedly used his dad's car and gun in the Le Bon bakery robbery.
State prosecutor, Melanie Hammett, in opposing the suspect's bail application, submitted an affidavit from the investigating officer to court.
The statement revealed that the suspect was linked to the incident after his father reported his firearm missing at the Algoa Park Police station days after the robbery took place in Central late last month.
Hammett told the court that the Volkswagen Jetta which belongs the suspect's father has a tracker device which showed that it had been parked in Rose Street near the store on the day of the robbery.
The defense requested a postponement to prepare a replying affidavit.
Magistrate Xolile Dlulisa confirmed an earlier ruling that the young accused should be identified as yet.
He remains in custody until his next court appearance next Wednesday.
31-year-old Kemp died after sustaining gunshot wounds when he and a colleague responded to the robbery.
His colleague was able to kill four suspects during the resultant shootout.
