A Port Elizabeth man has made his first court appearance in connection with the murder of Gelvandale police sergeant, Willem Pretorius.
Twenty-seven year old Xolisa Mboneli faces charges of murder and attempted murder.
He was arrested last Friday, nearly a week after Pretorius's body was found in his car in bushes between Motherwell and Uitenhage.
Police also found another man, Ary van Onselen, several metres away, who had been severely beaten and stabbed numerous times.
He remains in hospital.
The case against Mboneli was postponed to next Tuesday.
