Alleged Knysna paedophile appears in court

The case against a 59-year-old Knysna man who faces several rape and other charges, has been postponed for further investigation.

The man appeared in the George magistrate's court today where his case was postponed to the 14th of June for further investigation.

He cannot be named because he has not yet entered a plea.

The man, who is believed to be an entrepreneur, was arrested on Saturday on charges of rape, statutory rape, abduction, sexual exploitation and several other charges related to the manufacturer of child pornography.

Police spokesperson captain Malcolm Pojie says prosecutors could also bring further charges against him.

He says three people, a man - now aged 21 - and two women, now aged 18, allege that they were raped over a period of time while they were still minors.

The two women are believed to have been eight-years-old at the time.

Pojie says the man's latest victim, also an eight-year-old girl, was allegedly raped on April 29.

The victims allege that they were lured into bushes in the George area by the man, where he raped them while some say they were raped in his Land Rover.

Police seized the man's vehicle, cameras, laptops and a video camera.
