A 38 year-old murder suspect handed himself over to Msobomvu Police detectives on Tuesday morning.
Butterworth police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha says the man allegedly murdered a 55 year old woman and attempted to murder the deceased's daughter on Friday.
He says the suspect, who is the daughter's boyfriend, allegedly stabbed the woman to death when she tried to prevent him for entering their home and forcefully taking the couple's child.
Manatha says the suspect then stabbed the victim's daughter and fled the scene, when she called for help.
"It is not quite clear what the motive is but we have since charged the man with murder and attempted murder"
He will appear in court on Wednesday.
