Alleged gang leader gunned down in Port Elizabeth


An alleged gang leader was gunned down in his house in Bethelsdorp in Port Elizabeth's Northern areas on Saturday.

Police Spokesperson Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says the 33 year old man was hanging out with two male friends aged 27 and 31 respectively, and an 18 year old girl,when a lone gunman opened fire.

Eleven shots were fired hitting everybody in the house.

The girl was wounded in the knee and two men in their arms, legs and ankles.

The alleged gang leader had multiple gun shot wounds to his upper body and was declared dead upon arriving at the hospital.

No arrests have been made.

Police are also looking for three armed suspects who fired multiple shots at a man and his friend in Bloemendal on Saturday night.

Labans says the 23 year old man and his friend were approached by the suspects, who fired eleven shots.

Not a single person was injured.

Police confirmed that the incident was gang related.
