A 22-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning after he allegedly raped a 29-year-old woman and then fell asleep.
In a statement on Tuesday, Willowvale police said the victim was with her boyfriend when two men armed with knives kicked down the door of their home in Gojela Location, Qora Village, Willowvale.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said: “The boyfriend was chased away and the suspect allegedly dragged the victim to his home where the alleged rape took place”.
When the suspect fell asleep the victim fled to a nearby homestead to raise the alarm.
Manatha said community members found the suspect fast asleep. They handed him over to Willowvale police and he was arrested.
He is expected to appear in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on a charge of rape.
