Beaufort West police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of an off-duty policeman and a relative.
Police spokesperson, captain Malcolm Pojie, says the bodies of 43-year-old Glenville Kelly, an off-duty policeman from De Aar and a relative, Jan Lourens, were found on a dirt road near the town on Thursday morning by a passer-by.
He says they both had bullet wounds to the head.
Pojie says the police breakthrough in the investigation came when members of the George Hawks and Beaufort West police received a tip-off.
"We have reason to believe that the police officer's duty pistol had been used in this horrific act of violence. His phone is also missing."
"We therefore appeal to the public to assist police with the investigation and the retrieval of the firearm, a 9mm service pistol and the cellphone."
Anyone with information is requested to call the investigating officers, W/O Christo Botha at 044 802 1600 and 071 351 7462, W/O Frans Volkwyn at 071 8848 231, 082 559 4729 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111. All information will be dealt with in a confidential manner.
