Alleged carjacker shot dead in Fort Beaufort

The usually quiet town of Fort Beaufort was rocked by gunfire on Wednesday.

A suspected carjacker was shot dead in a shoot-out with police.

Police spokesperson, Kaya Tonjeni, says its is alleged that a vehicle had been hijacked in Qoboqobo at Whittlesea.

He says the car was spotted in Fort Beaufort by police and a shootout ensued.

Tonjeni says the driver was fatally wounded.
