Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of assault after a Grade 8 pupil from Linkside High was allegedly assaulted outside the school.
Algoa fm news has obtained video footage showing the 14 year old girl being beaten, grabbed around the neck and thrown onto the ground at a bus stop
Her concerned mother says this is one of four cell phone videos, showing the assault, currently doing the rounds amongst pupils.
Police Warrant Officer Alwin Labans confirmed that a case was opened at the Mount Road police station last week.
Loyiso Pulumani of the Education Department in Bisho has strongly condemned the incident
"We expect that the principal though their committee of the SGB will indeed conduct their own inquiry and full investigation. If necessary there must be steps taken against those identified. The expectation is that through their conduct inside and outside of the school will be exemplary. Issues of bullying will not be isolated externally, you will find that it started inside the school" he added.
