Alleged accomplice arrested in Barkley East murder

Eastern Cape police have confirmed that a third person appeared in court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of 61-year-old Barkley East farmer, Sarel Pretorius.

Police spokesperson, captain Ursula Roelofse, says the woman was arrested with two men in Hillbrow, Johannesburg on Saturday.

Her alleged involvement in the crime was only revealed by police when she appeared in court in handcuffs.

Pretorius was shot and killed during a robbery on his farm, Roodepoort, in the Barkley East area last Tuesday.

Police said two fire-arms and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered during the arrest.

The suspects, who are still in court, face charges of murder, armed robbery and motor vehicle theft.
