The curtain is coming down on another tumultuous year in the young history of our Rainbow Nation. From the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture to the mysterious death of former Bosasa boss Gavin Watson, Newsrooms across the country were never short of news in 2019.
The spectacular exit of Mmusi Miamane and his DA hierarchy had the world aghast and in Nelson Mandela Bay, a tempestuous year in Council Chambers finally ended with the ousting of controversial NMB Mayor Mongameli Bobani.
The AlgoaFM Newsroom was in the thick of it when Bobani marched out of Chambers for the last time and was also there when he went to the PE High Court to contest his axing. Through all the drama, there was of course the unbridled joy of two of Nelson Mandela Bay's very own in coach Rassie Erasmus and captain Siya Kolisi playing a massive part in the Springboks lifting the Webb Ellis Trophy for a third time with that thrilling win over England in the final in Japan.
The AlgoaFM Newsroom would like to wish all our listeners and growing band of online readers a safe and prosperous New Year and a new decade filled with plenty of highs and not too many lows.
There will be no news on AlgoaFM on New Year's Day and the weekend news format will continue on Thursday and Friday this week with the last bulletin of the day being at 1pm. The full daily news schedule will resume on Monday the 6th of January.
