Commuters in the Nelson Mandela Bay region will now have to pay more to get to work.
This is after the Algoa Bus company announced an increase of R1.00 on Monday for the majority of routes within the Metro.
Algoa Bus CEO Sicelo Duze, says they've had to absorb a number of fuel and other price hikes and that an increase in fares had now become unavoidable.
He said the fuel went up every single month and they have constantly absorbed these costs and simply cannot do it anymore.
Duze said he regrets the decision, especially in the light of the economic climate of the country and the high unemployement rate in the province.
The increase will come into effect on Saturday the 17th of November.
