Alexandria residents call for no bail for rape suspects

 About a thousand residents of Alexandria in the Eastern Cape have braved the cold and wet to protest outside the town's magistrate's court.

They are demanding that bail be denied to four men, three of them juveniles, who were arrested for the rape and murder of a local woman.

Her charred remains were found in her burnt out house last month.

Police spokesperson, captain Mali Govender, says the residents marched from the township where the murder occurred.
