Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle says the province's agricultural sector has a greater input to make in terms of its contribution to the provincial economy.
The premier was speaking to the media in Uitenhage on Thursday, following a tour of VWSA's production facilities.
The visit also made good on a promise he made during his state of the province address to engage with big business to see how government can improve the landscape in which business operates.
Responding to a question from Algoa FM News about the need to diversify the provincial economy to dimish its reliance on the automotive industry, Masualle said the province's agricultural sector is one of several areas where development can occur.
