Agri Eastern Cape says the weekend farm attack in the Alexandria area is one of a renewed spate of attacks on commercial farmers since December.
Agri Eastern Cape president, Ernest Pringle, says government's inability to deal with crime, as is evidenced by the wave of rhino and perlemoen poaching as well as farm attacks, threatens to undermine democracy in South Africa.
He has called on government to abandon what he says is its petty and disabling transformation policies, and to build up a professional and efficient police service before crime becomes a way of life.
Four men attacked a 66 year old woman in her farmhouse in the early hours of Monday morning, tying her up and ransacking her house.
No arrests arrests have yet been made.
