The afternoon traffic in large parts of Gqeberha came to a standstill on Tuesday after a man hanged himself from the footbridge crossing the N2 towards Cotswold.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says various units responded just before 2 pm after a complaint was received of a man who had hanged himself on the bridge just past the off-ramp at Standford Road.
She says no foul play is suspected.
Gelvandale Detectives opened an inquest docket and asked that anyone who may have information on the identity of the deceased contact their nearest police station.
