Afriforum set to fix thousands of potholes

AfriForum has  launched its national campaign to repair potholes in the different provinces across the country, including in the Eastern Cape.

The campaign, known as National Pothole Month, will see the repairing of about 12 000 potholes in the towns where AfriForum branches exist, at a cost of R2 million.

Marcus Pawson, AfriForum's Head of Local Government, says a total of 125 AfriForum branches, including their nine branches in the Eastern Cape will participate in the campaign.

“Various municipalities have already been warned in writing by AfriForum to repair the roads themselves. Municipalities who fail to adhere to these demands will be responsible for the costs” he said.

More than 300 tonnes of tar will be used during the repairs, with the campaign ending on the 31st of May.
